(chickpeas) and half a plate of healthy veggies with a yogurt
dressing. For dessert I had a small cheese empanada (a cookie kind of
thing) and a single piece of milk chocolate (30 kcal). All in all a
normal size meal.

Afternoon snack

Cafe au lait 2% milk, a handful of popcorn, and a cup of yogurt.

Lunch

A small serving of a lamb stew (about half a palm, maybe slightly
more), a small serving of quinoa, a slice of potato, and the rest of
the plate was a bean salad and a beet salad. A fairly small meal and
very healthy I think.

Breakfast

A bowl of oatmeal with half a teaspoon of brown sugar and some
raisins, plus 2% milk. A regular cup of coffee with half and half. A
cafe au lait with non-fat milk.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Dinner

A small serving of rice topped with a very small serving of chicken
adobo (braised chicken), a small serving of vegetarian stir fry with
vermicelli noodles, and a serving of salad with a light dressing and
some croutons. A small meal and pretty healthy I think.

Afternoon snack

Cafe au lait, 2% milk.

Lunch

A small serving of flank steak (about half a regular "palm-sized"
serving), a small serving of corn bread (less than half a palm) and a
serving of healthy-looking and feeling salad. I also had a small
serving of dessert which was chocolate fudge and candied popcorn. All
in all a fairly small meal. After lunch I had a cafe au lait 2% milk.

Breakfast

A smallish bowl of oatmeal with about half a teaspoon of brown sugar
and some 2% milk. Also had a regular coffee with a little 10% cream.
A bit later had a cafe au lait with 2% milk.

The big lapse...

I forgot about the food diary for about a week, or more correctly I
remembered but never got around to making my entries and then I had
forgotten the details. Doh.

This week has not been too bad, most working days were just fine, the
weekend was not so fine (had quite a few drinks on Sunday night, a
friend came into town) and yesterday was just plain terrible: The
first thing I did after getting off the plane was to buy a small box
(12 pieces or so) of See's candies and eat the whole bunch, this
followed by a couple of normal meals but ending the day with an It's
It ice cream sandwich and four Oreo cookies. Yikes. Gotta get back
to making food diary entries right away, that helps me not binge.

I'm setting up regular reminders so that I remember to make entries.
That should hopefully help a lot.

Weekend of fun

So I wasn't very active (or not at all) with the food diary this
weekend. The whole weekend was a bit of a diet disaster, but now it's
back on track. Here's a rough summary:
Friday dinner: Sweet'n'sour pork with small servings of some red
potatoes and greek salad, plus a bottle of beer.
Friday night snack: Lots of candy - one Bounty, quite a lot of
Maltesers (almost half a large bag) and almost half a bar of Lindt
chocolate.
Saturday breakfast: A buttered scone with cheese, a cafe au lait 1%
milk and a spoonful of cod liver oil.
Saturday lunch: Lots of bread and stuff, including a couple of pieces
of "pie" from our neighborhood bakery, don't remember all the details
exactly.
Saturday dinner: I shared an order of beef nachos and steak
quesadillas and a pitcher of beer with my wife. Big meal.

spoonful of cod liver oil.

chicken, Bhoona Gosht, Channa Masalla, paolo rice, nan and papadum,
plus one and a half bottles of beer.

A weekend of food diary twilight

Saturday ("free" day): Regular breakfast, regular lunch, a heavy
dinner (a little over half of a couple of not-so-healthy appetizers
and a large steak with some mashed potatoes), 5 beers, 3 other drinks,
a slice of pizza and some french fries. All in all this is what
Saturday as a "free" day is for, although this was on the heavy end of
the spectrum.

Sunday: Regular breakfast, a fairly regular lunch, a heavy afternoon
snack (probably 450 kcal of some cashew brittle), a wheat bun with ham
and cheese for dinner, a small portion of popcorn and a large portion
of peanut M&M's for an evening snack. This is _not_ what Sundays are
supposed to be like.

Saturday, May 24, 2008

Lunch

Half a whole wheat roll with chicken salad, a fairly large yogurt parfait (2% yogurt, not very much Kashi crunch cereal, a handful of blueberries, a handful of blackberries, and a handful of raspberries), a small bit of croissant, and half of a coconut ball sweet.

Dinner, slightly too large

Dinner was a smallish portion of rice and chicken and humus from last
night's shish taouk plates, half a whole wheat roll with a fair amount

sausage rolls (should have had 2 or less but they're irresistible).

Breakfast, Lunch & Snack

Breakfast: The "standard" with the Kashi crunch cereal.
Mid-morning: Double espresso.

light meal.
Afternoon snack: Cafe latte, 2% milk. Later on, three clementines

Lunch: Roasted tilapia, coriander and charred tomato sandwich on
baguette with coleslaw (non-creamy). Not a huge serving but not small
either.
Afternoon snack: Cafe au lait, 2% milk.
Dinner: Three small super tasty home-made beef burritos (I should
have had 2), and about 6 little round nachos. A fairly big meal, 2
burritos would have been an average size meal. A fair bit of
guacamole and sour cream although I cut back on the 3rd burrito.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Dinner

As an afternoon snack I had a handful of mixed nuts.

derivative thereof with 1% milk, a spoonful of cod liver oil, and
regular coffee with milk.
